Trusted Coaches
All head and assistant coaches, for both the traveling and recreational programs are required to pass a Trusted Coaches background check and concussions screening. Background checks must be completed annually and concussion screening every 3 years. Coaches that are "flagged" through the Trusted Coaches background screening process will be immediately removed from any coaching position. The SLPPBC partners with the Trusted Coaches organization to help us ensure all head coaches receive a comprehensive background check. We want your child to have the best and safest basketball experience possible.

Applying to be a Coach
If you want to apply to be a travel basketball coach, you must submit a formal application in July. The specific date each year will be announced by the board and posted to the website.

A rough timeline we follow each year is the following. This can give yo a good idea of the time commitment involved with coaching a team.
- Mid-summer - Traveling coach application deadline
- Late July - Coach interviews conducted by board members
- Early August - Board of Directors determines travel A level coaches and invites coaches under consideration for B/C level teams to continue in the coach process
- September - Travel coaches participate in team tryouts and selection process
- September - After tryouts remaining coaches are placed with B/C level teams any changes needed for A level coaches as a result of tryouts will be determined by the Board
- Early October - Team practices begin
- Early November - Tournaments begin. You will participate in approximately 10 tournaments for the season.
- Early March - Season Ends
